Possibly the most famous instance of a cheer going horribly wrong is the story of Kristi Yamaoka. In 2006, she and her squad were cheering on their school’s basketball team when Yamaoka fell off a human pyramid. She fractured her vertebra, among other things. Not letting that get to her, she continued cheering from a stretcher as she was being removed. That’s what we call dedication!
