When this teen found out she was the only one to join the cheer squad, she fearlessly stepped up

Even though Kaitlyn was extremely motivated, having all of the attention on her like a spotlight was certainly nerve-racking. “I get really nervous,” she revealed, “I’m always nervous.”

And those nerves didn’t just stop with her – they extended to her mom, who has been following her from the stands since day one. In fact, when she found out her daughter would be cheering alone, she said her “heart sank.” She felt bad for Kaitlyn, especially since this is her last year, and she knew she’d been suffering from self doubt.

Throwing caution to the wind – and trying to ignore those nerves – Kaitlyn invested her all in cheering on the Eagles. Her school wasn’t big, or fancy.

Indeed, this Oakland, Maine public school has just about 750 students enrolled there. Not only is that not a lot, it’s not even a lot for Maine – it’s ranked 25th in the entire state, quite an achievement in one of the smallest and least populated states in the country. None of that mattered to Kaitlyn. Messalonskee was hers, and she’d do her absolute best.
