[post_page_title]Ted Williams’ on base streak[/post_page_title]
Red Sox legend Ted Williams is the record holder for the most consecutive games to reach base. During the 1949 season, Williams reached base in 84 straight games. The streak started on July 1st and lasted through September 27th, shattering the previous record of 56, held by the Yankees Joe DiMaggio (though DiMaggio’s as you read was not only on base, but a hit streak). That season Williams batted .343/.490/.650 with 159 RBI, 43 HR, 194 hits and 150 runs and won his second MVP award (the first was in 1946).
