In order to keep things organized, I prefer doing it the old fashioned way. If I am working on a challenging project that is likely to take several days, like rebuilding a transmission or something, I will use a cookie sheet along with some magnets in order to lay things out spatially.
This way, I can get a visual of exactly what I am working with. I also love a good Sharpie, which I usually use to mark parts needed for the job.
