The incorrect usage of the oxygen masks highlighted that many people are not paying attention to their safety briefing before the flight. It is there to help try and save your life in an emergency, and in this emergency, there were many people at risk due to their lack of understanding of the correct procedure. If the mask is only covering your mouth, or your nose, but not both then the risk of passing out is still very high. Thankfully on this occasion, the pilot was able to land quickly.
