The second overall pick in the 1959 NBA draft, Howell was coming off some truly spectacular college years with Mississippi State, where he still holds a number of records. But he was a pretty classic player in the NBA too, winning two titles and making the All Star team six times. That being said, he is regarded something of a king out there in Mississippi, and he had his #52 jersey retired at his old college on February 7th, 2009.
