Irvette van Zyl is a South African long distance runner who competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics but did not finish the marathon. Van Zyl has competed in the London marathon twice and she placed 10th overall in 2013. Irvette is married to a fellow athlete and hurdler, L.J. van Zyl. L.J. is the South African record holder for the best time in the 400-metre hurdler. He competed in both the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics and he has won numerous medals in many competitions.
