Unfortunately for Colombian defender Escobar, things didn’t go to script, and he was the scorer of an own goal. As a result, Colombia lost the game 2-1 and were sent home before making it past the group stage. Escobar was shot and died upon his return to Colombia, it was suspected gangsters were responsible for his death.
