Amazingly, there were just seven people involved both in front of and behind the camera when it came to producing the musical fantasy movie The Wizard of Oz. It was her dance skills that landed Caren one of these prestigious roles. As if that wasn’t enough, the dancer even stood in for the star of the film, Judy Garland. Although Caren loved her time on the set, she couldn’t resist the pull of dance. Now, at 101 years old, Caren continued to work in Palm Springs where she teaches dance therapy.
