Grace listened out, hoping that it wasn’t on silent mode, or had no battery like her phone. Within seconds, she heard her dad’s phone ringing away in the room next door. She ran to it, dialing 911 as soon as she picked it up.

She knew phoning her mum was out of the question, and that her urgent call had to be for an ambulance. She was assured they were on their way immediately, but as Grace sat with her unconscious dad, she couldn’t help but wish they’d hurry up.
