Selena Gomez is all grown up

Selena didn’t have the best start in life. Money was an issue during her childhood, and her mother had to do whatever it took just to put food on the table.

While Selena’s mom was working three jobs, the aspiring star set her sights on the entertainment industry as a way to solve their problems. She eventually found some success at ten years old when she was cast on children’s show “Barney & Friends” alongside future BFF Demi Lovato. It was her first time acting, but it wouldn’t be her last.

Her time on “Barney & Friends” proved to be exactly what Selena needed to kickstart her career. After spending two years on the show, she was told she was too old and subsequently had to move onto something new.

Selena appeared in the action thriller film “Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire” before joining the Disney Channel lineup in 2006. She featured in one episode of sitcom “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody,” following which she had a recurring role on musical comedy “Hannah Montana.” That was just the start, though.
