Around the time that Selena was starring in her own show, she was also making waves with her band, Selena Gomez & the Scene. Between 2009-11, they released three albums together, all of which charted within the top ten on the Billboard 200.

Each album shifted over one million copies worldwide, with their most successful singles – “Naturally” and “Love You Like a Love Song” – being certified 4x platinum. The band eventually called it quits after the release of “When the Sun Goes Down” as Selena wanted to take a musical hiatus.

Fortunately for Selena, she didn’t need her band to keep her name in the spotlight. By the time they went their separate ways, the star was involved in a high-profile relationship with one of the industry’s rising stars – Justin Bieber.

With the duo both finding increasing success in their respective careers, the pairing of Gomez and Bieber was one that the media couldn’t get enough of. They were on their way to becoming a power couple, and it seemed like nothing could stand in the way of their world domination.
