Although her features in “American Pie” and its sequel made Tara a star, a lot of the other films she starred in had the adverse effect. Movies like musical comedy “Josie and the Pussycats” and rom-com “Van Wilder” were both relative failures.

The former was a box office bomb, while the latter received heaps of negative reviews. It didn’t help that Reid had a starring role in both of these movies, leading audiences to associate the actress with their shortcomings. She needed to find a way to improve her image.
