These people obviously didn't think their 'genius' ideas through

The first goal was to make sure that nobody was able to gain access to this building. On the face of it they have succeeded, but it wouldn’t take a master burglar long to figure out how to get over this gate. The lock is probably very secure and lock pick proof.

The gate is not the same story though and basically what this person has designed is a ladder. It is the easiest way to burgle, and if anything it probably encouraged more people to try and break in than it deterred. Hopefully, the person in charge of designing this gate wasn’t responsible for the security of the entire building; otherwise the police probably visit here a lot.
