We’ve all seen the reality TV programs that drop you off in the middle of the wide-open jungle to fend for yourself, but let’s be honest, a camera crew and health and safety team are always following to ensure no lives are actually at risk. No matter how much we can imagine what it’s like to be lost out in the wilderness, we can never truly understand the reality of what it must feel like to be stranded, alone and afraid.
However there are some people in the world that have somehow found themselves lost in jungle territory, but amazingly lived to tell the tale. One incredible story that hit the news recently is about a Hawaiian woman who ventured off down a hiking trail for a short walk, but didn’t return for 17 days.
Her name is Amanda Eller, and ever since her rescuers found her in May 2019, she has been more than happy to share her story. This is Amanda’s account of her remarkable fight to survive that allowed her to beat the odds and come home after 17 fearful days full of sheer determination, instinct, and courage.
