Israel has always been incredibly progressive, best exemplified by their military allowing women to join even before the state was “officially” founded in 1948. Many other nations were struggling to find any place for volunteer women in their armed forces, while at the same time the IDF were giving them tanks and having them teach others how to operate them.
One child discovered photographic proof that their mother was a tank instructor during her service. You have to admit that this photo of her, taken in 1984, just exudes pure coolness and confidence.
