You must admit, watching speed walkers is quite entertaining, mostly because of the way they move their bodies while walking. But there’s a reason for that funny movement. Speed walkers must have at least one foot on the ground at all times – that is what distinguishes speed walking from running. Also, the speed walker’s front leg must be straight when it touches the ground. If a judge notices infractions they can hand out a yellow paddle as a warning. But if a speed walker continues violating the rules, and gets three red paddles from three separate judges, he or she will be disqualified.
