Not every film is a success or a flop. It might seem like if a movie isn’t one, then it has to be the other, but Almost Famous proved that things aren’t always so simple. Although it grossed less than its $60 million budget, reviews for the film were glowing. It currently has an 89% approval rating on review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes, while the BBC named it as one of the greatest films since the turn of the century. The movie was so well-received that it was nominated for a flurry of major industry awards, including multiple Academy and Golden Globe Awards.
It’s nearly been two decades since Almost Famous was released, and it still stands up as an incredible film. For a lot of people, it provided one of their first acting roles, and their careers have changed massively because of it. Some continue to go from strength to strength, while others have jumped ship and found a different calling in life. One thing’s for sure though – they’ll never forget being a part of this movie.

The sister of the lead character, William Miller, Anita leaves home early in the film because she can’t handle living in such a restricted household any longer.
Her passion for rock music proves to be the driving factor behind William’s journalistic aspirations, especially after he finds her hidden stash of music. Although Anita abandons her family early on, she reunites with them at the end after discovering her brother at a San Francisco airport.
