Thankfully, the judge quite clearly had a soft spot for talking cats, and after not much deliberation, he ordered for the entire case to be dropped immediately.

The judge pointed out that this was a case based on clear scientific knowledge and rational knowledge – Blackie was, in fact, “not a person” – therefore, he was not protected by the Bill of Rights. So it turns out that Blackie’s free speech wasn’t protected after all – but then again, who’s going to say no to witnessing the wonder of a talking cat?
