Swimmer Natalie Coughlin is a California born, twelve-time Olympic medalist, who was crowned American Swimmer of the Year 3 times.
In the Olympic Games of 2012, she won a bronze for the US team in the 4×100 final, thus tying the records with Olympians Jenny Thompson and Dara Torres, who have also earned 12 medals during their careers, a record for female athletes. She finished 6th in the qualifying rounds, nearly missing her spot on the team.
