Vollmer participated in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and won three medals, along with her American team. In 2017, she competed in the Women’s 50 Free in the Indie series – while 6 months pregnant! She is married to Andy Grant, a former swimmer; they have two sons, Arlen and Ryker.
She is also an ambassador for The American Heart Association (Vollmer has suffered from congenital heart problems and, under doctors’ recommendation, always has a defibrillator by the pool.)
