During retirement number two, Jordan stuck to the game of basketball. In January 2000 he took up an executive role with the Washington Wizards as well as part ownership. At the time, the Wizards hadn’t won a playoff game in 12 years, and Jordan was tasked with turning the team into a winning squad. With the deal, he became only the third black minority owner in the league after Magic Johnson and Edward and Bettiann Gardner.
