The other day a customer came into the shop with a cracked windshield. When I asked what happened, assuming something must have come in contact with the glass, they said that they tried using hot water to cut through frost that had built up on the windshield.
I honestly don’t know why someone would ever think this was a good idea. Just use one of those ice scrapers instead, for the sake of your car and your wallet.
