[post_page_title]Starfishes don’t always have five arms[/post_page_title]
We have no clue why the general idea of a star is that five-pointed geometrical form that we all know. But somehow we’ve come to expect that not only stars should have five points, but also starfishes.
As we see in this photo, however, starfishes don’t always have five arms. In fact, some species will have up to 40 arms! Another fun fact – scientists have been trying to replace the name “starfish” with “sea star” because, as you may have noticed, they’re not fishes. They’re echinoderm, related to sand dollars and sea urchins.
