In 2001, John joined the WWF under the alias “The Prototype,” participating in a number of matchups. As the years went on, he kept moving up the ranks in the wrestling scene, from winning the Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) Southern Tag Team Championship to becoming a WWE champion. He got into feuds with other wrestlers, and suffered major losses, but he always remained determined to keep competing. It was only after he had become a household name in wrestling, that he finally met Nikki.
