NFL star Mike Utley's rise from the ashes

In 1991, the year of his career-ending injury, Mike, alongside his agent Bruce Allen, established a nonprofit for people suffering from spinal injuries. Its goal is to find a cure for his injury and for others who suffer from similar afflictions. The foundation does not only sponsor function-restore treatment, but actively encourages people to lead a better rehabilitative lifestyle. Due to his own treatment, Mike eventually retained movement in his arms. On top of helping people with spinal injuries, the foundation spreads awareness and knowledge about this sort of trauma.
