Gary Payton was one of the best – if not the best – defensive point guards in NBA history. He, alongside Jason Kidd, were the only two PG to be selected to the All-Defensive team at least nine times. More impressive, Payton is the only point guard to ever be selected as the Defensive Player of the Year (1995-96).
