Although Colin had fallen into loving hands, living with the Kaepernick’s’ wasn’t easy. As an all-white family, Teresa and her biological children would often receive stares and unwelcome comments when they were spotted with a biracial child. Most of the time, they would brush off the stares and stand proudly with Colin in tow. However, the comments didn’t stop. In fact, Colin was often told by his classmates that the Kaepernick’s couldn’t possibly be his parents.
