In golf, signing your name on the score card is of utmost importance. If a competitor does not sign the scorecard at the completion of a round he or she faces disqualification. Several golfers have been disqualified for this reason over the years. In 1966, Doug Sanders had a four-shot lead when he signed a bunch of autographs but forgot to sign his scorecard, costing him around $25,000 in possible bonuses from companies that endorse him.
