The Six Million Dollar Man started life as a TV movie on ABC. However, reception towards the action film was so positive that it was soon picked up for a full season. Majors remained in the role of Steve Austin, the ex-astronaut whose body had been modified with an assortment of bionic parts. Viewers all around the world loved the show, leading to multiple seasons and even a spin-off based on the popular character Jaime Sommers.

Causing a commotion

For several years, The Six Million Dollar Man was one of the biggest programs on TV. However, controversy soon emerged after Majors reportedly wanted to renegotiate his contract. There was talk that the actor believed he should be paid more for his work, although Lee’s manager denied this. Apparently, the man just wanted his production company to be brought in for future seasons. Whatever the truth, it wasn’t long before the show was canceled.
