She first competed in the 1984, 1988 and 1992 Olympics, winning two golds, a silver and a bronze. She competed again in 2000, winning two more gold medals and three bronze, including the 100m freestyle women, 50m freestyle women, and 100m butterfly women. In 2008, when she made history as the oldest swimmer, Torres won three silver medals.
