Pat Summitt played college ball for four years and will be remembered as one of the greatest head coaches in the history of the game of basketball. She was named head coach of the Tennessee Lady Vols when she was 22 and women’s basketball still wasn’t officially recognized by the NCAA. Back then she would drive the team to games. She coached the team for 38 years, and eventually retired after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s (even though she continued coaching while battling the disease for several years). She passed away in 2016, at the age of 64.
