Back in the late-‘70s Chuck Barris hosted an amateur talent show called The Gong Show, which had an offbeat vibe, and a unique sense of humor. The show ran for four years before NBC decided to cancel it in 1980. Apparently, many of the executives didn’t understand the humor, much to Chuck’s chagrin.
