Born in Westbury, Massachusetts, John Cena immediately had athletic role models. Most notable of these was Tony Lupien, his grandfather, who was a baseball player. Attending Springfield College, he played Division III NCAA football, and earned the title of All American Center. He graduated in 1998 with a degree in exercise physiology and body movement. Clearly he had his sights set on a future related to bodybuilding. One year later, he joined “Ultimate Pro Wrestling”, a university in California dedicated to the training of professional wrestlers.
