John and Elizabeth got married on July 11th, 2009, but it wasn’t meant to last. Three years to be exact. It was May of 2012 when John filed the divorce papers. According to TMZ, Elizabeth was “blindsided” when Cena unexpectedly filed to end their 3 year marriage. The divorce would be hard on both parties, but it was not without good reason. Throughout the long, tumultuous divorce period, stories began to emerge about why their relationship may not have been as picture perfect as some people may have thought.
