When Ryan returned, she didn’t receive the reception she’d hoped for. Although things seemed hopeful with the rom-com “In the Land of Women,” they soon took a turn for the worst with the movies that followed.

Critics didn’t love the satire “The Deal” because of the pairing of Ryan with William H. Macy, while rom-com “My Mom’s New Boyfriend” was also poorly reviewed. It was the dramedy “The Women” that really hit the actress hard, though. Critics panned the film, and Meg was nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award.
