[post_page_title]Changes in tax[/post_page_title]
Evidently, CNBC didn’t think everything through with their “tipping trick,” because they didn’t consider how much tax differs from one place to another. There is no set amount that food is taxed across the country, meaning some waitstaff would lose out more than others. In some areas, the sales tax sits at zero percent, so servers there would receive nothing from diners.
There’s no way that waiters and waitresses in these places would be able to make a living from their job alone, forcing them to go out and find extra work just to pay the bills. People on Twitter weren’t impressed by the news channel in the slightest, and their responses were pretty brutal. One person commented that you could also earn several hundred dollars a year by “pushing down old ladies and stealing the change in their wallets.” To them, that was akin to CNBC’s “selfish” hack.
