[post_page_title]15. Dick McGuire[/post_page_title]
Players who have played in what – in NBA terms – may be considered eons ago, often get overlooked. We’re here to rectify that, and say that Dick McGuire was an awesome, underrated point guard. He was certainly good enough for the Basketball Hall of Fame. He spent eleven seasons in the league, most of them with the Knicks, and was a seven-time All-Star.
Moreover, he led the league in assists his rookie campaign, with what was then an NBA record. He was so good, that in his final season he was the Detroit Pistons’ player-coach and took them to the playoffs. He wasn’t flashy – no one then was – but he was as smooth a playmaker as it got in the fifties.
