Laurie Metcalf spent her childhood in Edwardsville, Illinois, and knew from a young age that she wanted to be the star of the show. She had always had a desire to get on the stage and perform for large audiences, but her lack of confidence meant that she would always back out just minutes before the audition.
Thankfully, she finally mustered up the courage to audition for a part in a high school play, and she got the part! From that moment, she was hooked, and she knew she didn’t want to do anything else.
