Ilya Kovalchuk is one of the greatest offensive players of his generation. For six seasons straight, from 2003-04 to 2009-10, Kovalchuk scored 40+ goals a season, including 52 goals in 05-06 and 07-08. He added another four seasons with 30+ goals. In 2001 he became the first Russian player to be drafted at the no. 1 overall spot, but never won a Stanley Cup. He retired from the NHL after the 2012-13 season to return to Russia. He finished his NHL career with 417 goals and 399 assists in 816 games.
