Babe Didrikson Zaharias, odds are you never heard her name, but it’s one you have to known. She was an all around athlete. In 1932, she won three medals at the Olympics for track and field, including two gold medals. Aside from track, Zaharias won 41 professional titles in golf, became the first female to play in a PGA event just three years after picking up gold and was one of the founding members of the LPGA. She was also an AAU All-American basketball star and was a 6-time AP Female Athlete of the Year. Zaharias died at a young age, just 45 years old, because of colon cancer. But she continued playing golf until her death, and was even top-ranked when she passed.
