Kristi Yamaguchi wowed ice skating fans in the early 1990s. The Asian-American figure skater competed in the 1992 Olympics in Albertville, taking home the gold for the USA. With her win, Yamaguchi, whose mother was born in an internment camp during World War II, became the first Asian-American female to win a gold medal. In 1998, she was inducted into the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame. Just a year later she was inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
