Pelé has done a lot of ambassadorial work since retiring, working for the UN bringing attention to the environment and ecology. Brazil honored Pelé with a Gold Medal thanks to his outstanding services to soccer in 1995. He often features in top lists of soccer players and in 2004 was included in the FIFA 100, a list of the greatest players of all time. After he retired, he featured in 1981 WWII sports movie, Escape to Victory, where Allied prisoners played soccer against a German team.
