The 32 biggest NBA draft busts of all time

[post_page_title]Sam Bowie[/post_page_title]
Draft no.: 2nd overall
Draft year: 1984
Team: Portland Trail Blazers
Back in 1984, the Portland Trail Blazers decided to draft based on need rather than on talent. That’s how they ended up with Sam Bowie instead of Charles Barkley, John Stockton or the king of the court himself, Michael Jordan. Bowie would spend ten seasons playing in the NBA, with his best years coming in the middle of his career, playing for the New Jersey Nets but continually struggling with injuries. Bowie finished his career averaging 10.9 points and 7.5 rebounds. He may not necessarily be considered a bust, but more of a puzzling pick at the top.
