After her birth in 1936, Tenley was at the very beginning of the sport’s popularity. This skater was a massive name in the 1950s as she flew around the rink wowing the judges and audience. It appeared as though Tenley could master anything she touched as she was the U.S. National Champion for four years, the North American champion twice, and a two-time World Champion. In 1952 the skater won silver at the Winter Olympics with her team but finally brought home the gold in 1956.
