The veteran defensemen had played 22 seasons in the league without winning a Cup, but he finally got his chance right before he parted from the game. Bourque had a consistently good career throughout his 22-season career: he holds the record for points scored by defensemen, with 1,579,  with 410 goals and 1,169 assists. He is a five-time Norris Trophy winner and a Calder Trophy recipient.
