Sam Gagner plays for the Vancouver Canucks, in his home country of Canada. In his rookie season, he played in the 2008 World Championships on Team Canada, winning the silver medal. He was drafted sixth in the 2007 NHL Draft by the Edmonton Oilers, and he played for them for seven years. After that, he would move on to play one-year stints on teams such as the Arizona Coyotes, the Philadelphia Flyers, and the Columbus Blue Jackets, before finally going to the Canucks.
