Visitors at the Zoo de la Palmyre in France are typically allowed to touch the rhinos, if the animals are willing to let it happen. The zookeepers want people to understand more about their animals so allow them to get as close as possible. In the rhino enclosure there is a fence which allows guests to reach through and feel the backs of these endangered animals. Most guests simply lean over and get a feel for the tough skin of the rhinos, but some people went too far recently.
