Around a century ago, the white rhino was on the brink of extinction until conservationists stepped in to intervene. The white rhino lives in Africa, and while once there was only a handful left, there are now over 20,000. There are still efforts to maintain the white rhino numbers, but they are now able to thrive in southern parts of Africa in protected sanctuaries. While the white rhino is doing well, that hasn’t stopped people from trying to poach them, and conservationists must remain vigilant.
