For the couple’s 50th anniversary three years earlier, Parton explained how she had successfully convinced Dean into having a large, flashy vow renewal ceremony in Nashville.
Although her husband notoriously dislikes large crowds and publicity, he agreed to it after planning to sell the photo rights from the big day and put the funds towards charity. “If I had it to do all over, I’d do it all over again, and we did,” Parton stated. “I’m dragging him kicking and screaming into the next 50 years.”
